One of the best baby items I think is a bouncy chair (with the vibration). We didn’t register for it but got one for our shower and boy are we soooo glad we did!

I had my daughter in March of this year. We had the shower in January. Anywhere from a month to 2 months is good.

I used to think Avent bottles were the best but I hate them now. I have had nothing but problems. THEY LEAK! I called & complained. They didn’t really help much. DON’T GET AVENT!

Best diapers are Pamper Swaddlers. More snug fit (not tight) and they are softer. Conform more to baby.

Baby clothing: what to get would be plain white onesies for each age set for a year (0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12 or just 12). Lots of sleepers and some sleep bags as you shouldn’t use blankets in a crib. We did at first and too many close calls so now she uses sleep bags.

A convertible crib would be the best I would think. We don’t have one. It was someone else’s but it’s beautiful just the same.

A non-flammable mattress would be the best. Sealy is good brand.

OH-you’d want to get at least 2 waterproof mattress covers and at least 8 crib sheets. Just a recommendation. As far as what’s best I would say any brand for those items. Get an Especially For Baby contour changing pad. And the absolute BEST changing pad covers would be the soft & smooth ones by Koala.

Gerber is great for the onesies although I just went to Target and bought a pack of white onesies that were Circo brand and they seem great!

Koala and Gerber are very good brands. Pampers is awesome. I tend to like Huggies Sensitive wipes better than Pampers wipes because they are actually a little thicker, which is nice.

You should try to get a whole travel system because you will also need to purchase a base separately but if you buy the system it comes with all of that (carseat, base & stroller).

A playpen is a good idea to have downstairs or in another room or packed up ready to go for over at company’s houses. One with a changing area that you can attach to it is nice but not totally necessary.

I can’t remember when I first started shopping for my baby. I honestly can’t. Well maybe when I was a couple months old. I might not have bought anything then but I looked.

When I was 5 1/2 weeks pregnant we told our parents. And that’s it. We bought each gramma & grampa (yes I know I spelled it wrong but that’s how I say it) a bib that said “World’s Best Grampa” etc. We went out to eat with my parents and gave them the presents. When they unwrapped them, my dad’s jaw dropped and my mom was excited as well. His parents were too For everyone else we waited til the first ultrasound at 8 weeks. Should’ve waited for everyone at least til then but we just couldn’t.

Everyone was friggin excited!!!!!!!

Dear NON- Maternal mothers or anyone in my situation! Am I a baby hater!?!?!?

My boyfriends two year old is a complete tyrant. I understand shes TWO, but she has zero discipline, she scratches my boyfriend in the face, will not let ANYONE pick her up or make her food, also wont let you get her a bottle, open a snack, every time I fall asleep she screams LOUDLY in my face, ‘No’ is her favorite word as was mine, but she will throw anything in site and scream “NO!!!”, she has malicious intent, she picked up an antique mirror of mine and when I walked towards her and quietly said ‘Saylor may I please have my special mirror?” guess what happened, one of the many items she has destroyed in my house. She screams 85% of the day even when asked if she’d like to go to the park, Chuck E. Cheese, ice cream or a snack, knowingly lies (Daddy- POO POO, no poo poo, EVER… she knows.), and basically gets everything she wants candy, toys, name it, it’s hers. Shaun also takes her to multiple activities each day IE- Park and Chuck E. Cheese or the Zoo and toy shop, sometimes more! I’ll tell you I am NOT a kid person, but it’s not as if I can‘t stand children!I love them! I am the oldest of 3 and have 3 much younger cousins. My mother and two best friends love kids and one is a full time ‘professional’ babysitter and they cannot stand her, avoid her at all costs. Also Shaun makes excuses for her when my jaw is dropped ‘She doesn’t know any better,” “She’s tired/hungry/whatever. I wish her parents would be around other parents of young children, I have spoken to my family in great detail and they think this is highly disruptive for her! Keep in mind he’s 31, I’m 22, and I have zero ideas about how to approach this matter because it’s definitely not my place. She’s at the house Sunday night through Tuesday morning and when Saturday night comes around I get nervous and bummed. I told Shaun my sleep schedule is not baby-friendly so I will stay at my friends or mothers. Please help me cope, because I love Shaun SO dearly this is my only obstacle in our relationship. Thanks in advance <3

My name is Shawn Huntley recently I officially broke up with my girlfriend of seven years. During the seven ye

years many things have happen. We had a beautiful baby girl named Shanda after having the baby I moved in with her from Charlotte, NC to Newberry,SC while living with her I held down two jobs until by her request I quit. She wanted to work and neither of us wanted to pay for daycare services. Soon I did miss being the breadwinner and hated the role of the ” houseman. ” Cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, and etc. Problems in our relationship brewed and we broke up and got back together a number of times. The time that my mother daughter got pregnant again we were broken up and she was dating someone new. I admit we had relations twice around the time she was pregnant she convinced me the baby was mine and not the other gentleman she was in a relationship with. November of 2006 we were over and I moved in with my older sister until I got back on my feet. My daughter mother called and told she was putting child support on me. During the phone conversation in front of two witnesses she stated the youngest girl wasn’t my child. As you may know any man would be heart broken to hear anything like that. I lost my temper and took my anger and frustration out on some of her neighbors cars which led to my arrest. Child support was filed and I paid it for a couple of months until she dropped it. When she though there was a chance of us getting back together. Anyway while in Charlotte, NC I started two jobs. One loading and unloading items off of trucks for Family Dollars and a bouncer at downtown night club. Due to my children mother I could only see my children when she permitted but the children did come and stay with me at my sister house for weeks at a time. I feed, clothed and spoiled my children. My family which is my sister, mother, my aunt, and my own grandmother love and spoil the children to the end of this world. (You now see I said children she later changed her story and denied the whole statement.) After time and a lot of hard work we decided to give it one more chance and it lasted for about 6 months. I quit my job I held in Newberry and moved back in with my sister. I been living with sister for about a month now and once again my child mother is filing child support and she has claimed that the children hasn’t seen me in a year in a half. The kids were just with me the week of June 14 – June 19. My question is how can I beat this case? I’m not a deadbeat father I love both of the children dearly. Is there anyway I can beat this case for child support and maybe receive custody of my kids? We were never married and my name isn’t on my youngest daughter birth certificate if that any information you need.

Jeanne answers:

If you want custody, you will have to find a lawyer.

A side note: the reason your relationship kept having trouble b/c you were reversing roles. We are programmed to be certain ways, no matter how pc it is to say differnet the truth of the matter is that men are meant to be the head of household and women are meant to be the heart of the household. You guys probably would have been better off financially and romantically if you both were working, and your babies were in a loving day care. Also, do you still love her? Maybe get some couples counseling. Maybe get pre-marital counseling.

What is the best way to remove small, formula stains at the neckline of a young baby’s onsies, dresses, etc.?

Hi! I’m a seller on e-bay who specializes in adult clothing. Well, I now have a client who would like me to sell all of her her baby‘s newborn – 12 month clothes. About 1/2 of the 150 pieces were never worn – I mean how many onesies can a baby model in one day? Ha Ha

Of the other 1/2, 95% were worn 1-2 times and are in absolutely perfect condition.

NOW, I’M VERY PICKY ABOUT WHAT I PUT MY NAME ON WHEN IT COMES TO MY E-BAY SELLER REPUTATION. I want everything, sparkling clean, every button inplace, no sign of the slightest tear, etc. I’ve worked hard for my reputation and I want to keep it.

Here’s my dilemma – I have 15 pieces (mostly onsies) that, RIGHT AT THE COLLAR – where the baby‘s bib probably slipped down a bit, there is a 1/2″ – 1 1/2″ slight discoloration – which I already know is baby formula. Now, I take each item and examine it outside to make sure I don’t miss even the slightest stain – I know, there’s medication for folks like me! So, the more normal person would miss at least 8 of these stains. BUT I KNOW THEY ARE THERE and they won’t ‘go to market’ with any stain whatsover. I’d rather pull the item from the lot than to sell it with a stain.

Here’s my question: Of the products on the market right now (and remember that we’re dealing with delicate, soft, cuddly pastel 100% cotton fabric – that has had the stain “washed in” does anyone know what stick, spray, soak, incantation or whatever might work to REMOVE THE STAIN – BUT NOT DISSOLVE THE FABRIC?

If these 15 items weren’t as cute as a bug’s ear (and isn’t that a most disgusting saying….) I’d donate them to charity right now. But they are simply precious and I owe my client the best return on her investment of clothing.

Thanks to all the Moms and Dads who can offer me some thoughts. I’ve never had a child (CAN YOU TELL??) and am just getting used to “2T” meaning “2 Toddler” rather than “2 Tall.” And what the heck is “toddling” anyway and why should I even worry about it? Oh, I tell you raising a little one is a VERY SPECIAL world and God Bless all of you who’ve taken on the task.

Meanwhile, I’ll just keep tring to brush my kiitten’s teeth… [See, I don't have it entirely easy, either!! Ha Ha]

Thanks. BTW – serious answers only – I don’t need to be told I’m nuts to worry about this. I’ve already explained why I’m obsessed – it’s my reputation on the line. Okay – give me some good ideas – I’m anxiously waiting!!

I’ve had three in diapers at one time so I know a little about stains. A gentle and great stain remover is called Bac-Out. It is an enzyme cleaner made by Bio Kleen. You can also fill a bucket or tub and soak the onsies with a denture tablet or two. Drying in the sun also helps.

Jeanne answers:

1) you can have 561 versions of 1st name and 560 (if middle name is not same as first name) versions of middle name..hence, together..you have
561*560= 314,160 different versions

2) 30 different item and 15 different background, you have
30*15 = 450 different items you could buy

I would say around the middle of your 7th month for baby shower.
That way if you need a few more items you still have time to get them
My preference for bottles was the playtex nursers with the liners. They were easy to clean and convenient and My son had no problem going back and forth from bottle to breast
Diapers Is a toss up between huggies supreme or pampers
Baby clothing depends on your babys shape. Carters brand normal fit babies on the narrower side where childrens place brand normally fit rounder bigger babies.. I love carters and old navy baby clothes!
I prefer the delta brand cribs only because they are so so easy to put together and there is no hardware, everything just clicks in place.
Baby mattress I am not sure the brand You want a good solid mattress not one too soft.

I bought the combo set, and although my son has grown out of the car seat I still use the stroller all the time.

I would have both personally. I am going to start my baby out in the bassinet of my new pack and play by Graco.
But then when she grows out of that I will put her in her crib.
(I dont have room to set up the crib by my bed)

You can shop whenever you want. There is no right time to look and buy.

Good luck to you!!

Jeanne answers:

Remember, that the hospital bill is HUGE, and diapers, clothing, baby food, etc. Are all future expenses too. I have heard that you should either buy one step up from the basic model or one step down from the most expensive.

With my son, I had both my showers after he was born. My one shower was a gift card shower which was awesome. You can also have just a diaper shower. With my daughter, I had it about 2 weeks before I delivered. I liked that, too.

Every bottle, pacifier, diaper, wipe, etc depends on your preferences and your baby’s specific needs. A baby with colic or acid reflux would require a different “best” bottle than a baby that has trouble latching on, and a baby with sensitive skin requires different laundry detergent and wipes than a baby that does not have issues. Also, are you only willing to buy name brand items?

Baby clothing – basically you get what you pay for – sort of. We are one income and I cannot have my children in $20 t-shirts that they will only fit into twice. So I find these items at garage sales in perfect condition for literally nothing. I just paid 25 cents for a little girls, pink Nike sweatshirt, something that I would NEVER pay $30+ for in-store.

Stroller – get the set. Babies will only need their infant seat for about 6 months.

I had a nice crib with both my children. I then also had 1-2 playpens for traveling, and for playing in another room. Get one crib and at least one pack n play. The changing table thing I think is cool, we just never had one and I can’t say that I necessarily missed it.

I registered for my shower when I was 5 or 6 months along. If you don’t want to know, you can register whenever, but if you want to know, wait til you find out so you don’t have to go back again. Don’t register for baby clothes or buy any – you will get TONS at your shower anyway (unless there is something you just have to have).

I told my BF (now DH) and our parents when I was 7 weeks – when I found out. Most of our family and friends found out very shortly after. We were all surprised because my BF had moved away and I had just graduated high school and was planning on moving off to college. Yes, lots of surprise. With my daughter, we told everyone pretty much right away again.

Good luck! And if you have $$ to burn, invest in a college fund now!

Jeanne answers:

Whenever you have sex, their is a possibility of getting pregnant. Condoms and birth control are just protection, but they don’t always work. And, for the “pull out” method, you have to be careful with this. Guys can pre-ejaculate before they actually ejaculate.
For what happened with your period, I want to say that your body probably isn’t used to sex during your period so it was a little buggered up, because the same thing happened to me.
If you keep missing the exact time to take your pill, I know that for me I am x6 more likely to get pregnant so you have to be careful! A note: if you have a cell phone, I reccomend setting a timer, it really does help a lot!

What are the chances of getting pregnant during your week off the pill when you haven’t had a period?

I have been on birth control for about 9 months now and up until two months ago I’ve had a regular period. Two months ago I had very little breakthrough bleeding the third week on my pills and no period while on the placebos. This month I haven’t had any breakthrough bleeding and I didn’t have a period.

Very little. The pill works because it makes the uterus uninhabitable, discouraging a fertilized egg from attaching and growing. It’s possible to get pregnant on the pill but unlikely, and it can happen at any point during the cycle.

Jeanne answers:

OK your doc is probably not correct unless you had other stuff going on. If my doc based my baby’s due date on when my last period was she would ahve been born 3 months late. Not every woman’s cycle is the same and they aren’t even the same from month to month. (And be wary of going with 14 days as the “norm” as that is only accepted as the norm and is definitely not true of everyone – whether you count after yuor period or before – every women is unique.

I conceived on cycle day 61… Meaning 61 days after my period started.. No period in that whole time….

I recommend going to a fertility doc if you’ve been trying for this long – not just a regular OB. Also – read Taking Charge of Your Fertility – it was very helpful for me to understand my very odd cycles.

Good luck . My sister tried for about 4+ years and was about to go on fertility drugs but decided to take a break from trying and she got pregnant – so it happens when you least expect it.

Just don’t add any salt during the cooking process – give him the potatoes/vegetables (or whatever) without the salt and get in the habit of seasoning your own food on your plate.

There is little your son can’t eat regarding ‘table food’ and it will be so much easier to feed him along with the rest of the family.

Jeanne answers:

It’s as simple as this: Eat Right and Exercise. There is no magic trick to losing weight. It all depends on how much you want it. The first step to losing weight is to make the decision to. You have to really want to lose the weight if your going to stay committed. A few tips you can use are the following: Eat! Eating is essential to losing weight. Your body needs nutrients to function and to heal itself. Not eating will never end well; you will have no energy and your body will suffer. Another side effect of not eating is gaining weight, believe it or not. Your body goes into starvation mode and as soon as you eat the food you intake will automatically be turned into fat. Instead of not eating at all just take in smaller portions. Your meat should be the size of your palm width and length wise, your vegetables should be the size of your closed fist, and lastly your carbohydrates should be able to fit in your cupped hand. Make your self a plate with those guides. You may feel like your still hungry once you get done but keep in mind it takes your brain twenty minutes to catch up with your stomach. So wait twenty minutes and surprisingly you will be full! If your having a hard time keeping your portions low try drinking a glass of water fifteen minutes before you eat. It will help to suppress your unwanted hunger. Lastly you need to be exercising everyday. Six days a week split a workout into two times. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Keep each workout out a minimum of forty-five minutes long. The reasoning behind this is because your body starts to burn calories so much faster after the thirty minute mark, if you can push your self that extra mile go for it, you will be burning tons of those unwanted calories! On your seventh day I do recommend working out but in a simple way, instead of your hard sweat breaking workouts done throughout the week take it easy and take a thirty minute walk. Some other tips for exercising include: Workout within fifteen minutes of waking up and before eating. This way you burn more calories throughout the whole day and you start your day off with more energy. After working out eat something small but nutritious. After exercising when you eat your body will still be burning calories quickly and once your food has been digested it will start burning the fat for more fuel. Always make sure you eat right after working out. You should have 6 meals a day, 3 meals and 3 mid-meals.
Good Luck with your weight loss I wish you all the best!

I actually did this a few years back when I became obsessive about my weight. I lost 3-4lbs eating the baby meals “gerber graduates.” Honestly though, I gained it right back when I started eating adult food again. Also it was embarassing because I had to hide from everyone that I was eating baby food because I knew it was a nutty thing to do. It was a bad time in my life when I counted every calorie and was slightly bulimic. I wouldnt reccomend you starting this simply because it might put you on the road to having some serious weight issues, if you don’t have them already.

You should try to eat 6 times a day and combine complex carbs such as baked potato or sweet potato, oatmeal, grits and lean meat like chick breast turkey breast turkey bacon. Fresh fruits low in sugar like pears and berries. Ur 3 main meals should have a protein and complex carb mix and also add a veggie. Fresh is better but if canned get low sodium. And ur last meal should be 2 hrs b4 bed and its needs to be all protein. Just email me if u want more help. Try it and i wish u well with a new body!!!!!!

There are formulas (complex) based on your height and weight and density and such to figure out what you should be taking in, but a general rule of thumb might be from 10-12 cals per pound of body weight per day for weight loss (not maintenance) depending on how physically active you are- but keep in mind its a VERY VERY VERY general rule of thumb that i only pointed out to show you how much your 300 calories a day idea is not a good one.

Oh- and btw- you should know- that when your body goes into starvation mode and slows down your metabolism (which it will from the idea you posted), you will GAIN MORE WEIGHT because you can’t maintain such an enormous well absence of calories forever.

Face facts- you aren’t looking to lose weight- you want to lose body fat- losing “weight” by starving yourself will cause your body to break down muscle tissue for sustenance and that will further slow down your metabolism-

lean muscle burns calories, 15 per pound (roughly).

Focus on eating nutrient dense foods, and create a caloric defacit through weight training (to maintain and tone lean muscle mass- which will increase your metabolism when fueled properly) and some form of cardio.

Just don’t starve yourself to death- which is what you will be doing.

Babylon The Great is identified as world empire of false religion embracing all religions and practices do not conform to the true worship of Jehovah, the only true God.Following the flood of Noah’s day, false religion had it’s beginning at babel later known as Babylon(Gen108-10)In time ,Babylonish religious beliefs and practices spred to many lands. So Babylon became a fitting name for false religions .In symbolism of Revelation, Babylon The great is refereed to as a “Great City”, a Kingdom that rules other kings (Rev. 17:18) Like a city, it would have many organizations within it; and like that includes other kings in its domain.it would be international in scope. . It is describing as having relations with political rulers and contributing much to wealth of men in Commerce being a while itselfnt that has become a dwelling place of demons and and a
persecutor of the prophets and of holy ones Rev 18;2,9-17,24.Following are practises of Babylon The City that are also practises of todays relgions.
(1)Triadsreligions -Including the trinity
(2) Use of Images-catholic church and its images,
(3) Belief, regarding death They belived in life after death.
(4)Posistion of priesthood-The distinction between priest and layman
(5)Practice of astrogy, divination and magic and sorcery.
Babylon the Great the Harlot sits on many waters and commits forinacation of on her headwas written ,mystery Babylon the great mother of the harlots,of the disquesting of the things of the earth. “Rev 18;7 adds that she gloried herself and lived in shamless luxery. You can see that religions Babylon the Great and politics use each other for gain. The true religion doesn’t cohort with politics, we obey laws and pay taxes, but does not use Politics for selfish gain A good example of babylon The Great and polotics is Pope Pius, he knew of the Holocost, but did nothing, thus protecting the political powers in germany. At the end of the first season they decided they needed to replace the principal character, Commander Sinclair, with a more charismatic and more well known actor to satisfy the network and the ratings.

I think Bruce Boxleitner made a good replacement. It worked out quite well as the show was picked up for another 4 years.

Choosing a theme for the baby shower is the first step in organizing a baby shower. You have the choice of not having a theme at all, however, having a theme will make the party lively, entertaining and a memorable experience. Before deciding a baby shower theme, you need to consider what your guests would find enjoyable. It is a good idea to put yourself in their shoes and think about what you would enjoy doing at a baby shower.

The theme forms the central base of baby shower. The theme affects the decorations used, the ambience, food served, dressing code, gifts given and invitations sent out. The invitations should include shower themes on them. Some moms-to-be would be thrilled with a formal brunch or a tea party, while some others would rather prefer something more unusual.

Overly cute themes will not work for a combined shower for males and females. The reflection of the theme should be on the supplies used such as the character on the plates and napkins or the overall ambience. Themes should always be decided upon, after thoroughly considering the mother’s personality and interests. A theme is the fun part of any shower. Some of the well-known themes are nursery rhymes, baby safety, a little prince or princess and angels. Other interesting themes include baby diaper cake shower themes, teddy bear shower themes, gift basket shower themes, Christmas baby shower theme, Noah’s ark shower theme and a stork shower theme. A shower theme on baby care will be perfect if the expectant mother has not yet begun shopping for baby items. She will need everything; this gives the guests great deal of flexibility. Guests can also pool money together to buy her a special higher ticket item like a crib, car seat, or a stroller.

It is very important for babies to have the right mobility, because this is something that helps them with their brain activity. Therefore, it is important for babies to be allowed to do some exercise every time they can. However, parents should always be careful when it comes to their babies’ safety because they don’t have too much control and they can get hurt very easily. Door baby bouncers are actually one of the best things you can go for.

This kind of device is attached to a doorway as it is equipped with some clamps which are set around the frame. The best places to install these bouncers are those which provide the baby with enough space to bounce around and not jeopardize them when they are too anxious to do this. The seat of such a baby bouncer has a spring which makes it easier for the baby to bounce. These baby bouncers are actually a lot of fun, not only for the babies, but also for their parents, who can join them one way or another.

Parents can also dance with their babies while these doing their exercise, this actually giving the baby an extra impulse to bounce and choose a healthy way of having fun. Also, music can be a very important factor in this equation, also representing an extra stimulus for the baby.

Door baby bouncers are very healthy, the baby’s senses developing very nicely when doing this kind of exercise. Also, they are safe, they ensure a rapid development of the baby and it creates some of the best conditions for the babies to grow healthy and active from more points of view.

Best bet is to bring along a wagon of some sort that you can roll along with her in it, put toys in it for her to play with. Bigger than a stroller but more portable than a blanket on the floor.
Also you dont know what condition the floor is going to be in, so you might not want her playing on it, even if on a blanket.

How to handle babies and HOT summers?

This summer is hot, at least for us. Not Africa hot, but hot just the same. It is about 30 degrees Celcuis for over a week now. I have a 3 1/2 week old baby. We have been going to the lake for the day alot( the only place to stay cool). I have been wetting the babies hat and socks and putting them on him (not freezing cold, but slightly cool). I have been putting him in the shade as much as possible and feeding him on demand (breastfed). I keep a blanket over him (not on him, but over his car seat and stroller) to keep the bugs and sun off as much as possilbe. Any other tips?

Looking For Good Quality Double Jogging Stroller … Help!?

I’ve had a couple bad experiences with jogging strollers thus far. The first one I got from BabyTrend was defective:

http://www.babytrend.com/products_detail.php?CategoryID=0004.0002.0000.0000&LampID=926

The front tire would seize up almost like a brake when you started to jog. Later I found out I wasn’t the only one with this problem.

I can’t remember who made the second jogging stroller. I gave it away to a friend so they could use it for parts. In both situations the warranty lasted 3 months and the strollers died on me not long after.

So! With that said, I want to make a good choice this time around. I am hoping that some parents out there might be able to give me some good suggestions. I am not really worried about the cost too much. I would like to keep it reasonable but if I have to spend money to get a good quality double jogging stroller then so be it. My daughter is 17 months and my son will turn 3 soon.

Here is a little description of what I use it for and what I’m looking for:
Storage – I usually like to bring a ball, snacks and blanket with me on trips. Light stuff for the most part, but having the ability to keep it in/on the stroller is a perk.
Durability – It needs to be built for jogging and an active lifestyle. I walk almost everywhere I go for exercise.
Comfort – I want my babies to be comfortable.
Holders – It is not a must . . BUT it would be nice if it could hold a water bottle or two. It would also be nice if it had some storage for the kids drinks . . I can live without this however.

Appreciate any suggestions/help I can get on this matter. I just want to get my money’s worth this time around. Thanks in advance.

My baby is a summer baby and I am at my wits end to keep his temperature normal?

Or he is hot, but his hands are cold. That is how babies are. I am so worried that he will over heat. I keep a blanket over his stroller and turn it so he is in the shade. The other day I had slippers on his cold feet. And his head was SO hot, that I dipped his hat in water and put it on his head, which helped alot. Someone looked at me weird, lol… Slippers and a cool hat. What do people in hot countries do??? Summers in Canada seem so drastic because they are hot and only last 2 months. I dont’ know how to handle my baby’s temperature.
Jeanne answers:

It is normal for babies hands and feet to feel cold – it does not mean they are cold. In the summer, your baby should be dressed about the same as you. Try to keep him out of the sun and make sure he stays hydrated with milk or formula. No water, though! It is dangerous for tiny babies.

You may have heard that newborns are not able to regulate his own body temperature, but this is only true for the first couple days. Your baby is fine!

Bundling baby in stroller?

I don’t have a car and the only main way that I can get around with my one month old is by bus or by taxi. Unfortunately, I don’t have money like that to be spending on a taxi and I can’t fully rely on my friends all of the time when I need to go somewhere, like a doctor’s appointment for her or something. So, I’m considering on looking for a standard stroller for her but how can I bundle her up really really good to prepare to go outside to run my errands? I know I need to put a snowsuit on her, as well as mittens, a hat, socks, etc (the essentials to keep her warm) and a plush blanket over her to keep her warm inside, but is there anything else I can do to keep her bundled up well? Currently where I live, it is very snowy and I live in the mountains.

Jeanne answers:

I would look into something that is wind proof. Baby clothes are not designed for outdoors long term. Usually baby wear is made so baby stays warm from house to car…. Short distances. The wind is what will cut into the cloth and cool your baby down. Up in the mountains, there should be some kind of store that carries items for baby and the weather there.

We have a son who is going to be almost 7 months by time Christmas rolls around, and I cannot seem to find many stores that offer toys for children his age..

If anyone knows of any stores that may be having good deals I would be forever grateful if you shared your information.

Thank you.

(ps. no rude and/or sarcastic comments please)

My 3yo daughter has a siezure disorde (from your details yours is being treated for seizures right?) She really took a log time to focus on anything. We have had her eyes checked and she can see though really only things close to her. She honestly didnt start tracking things until she was over a year old. She does not reach for things even at 3 1/2 her favorite things are lights. Any toy that has lights she just adores and really will focus on and follow. You might try something like that. Also during therapy they use those sparkly pinwheel things and because they are that shiny coler and sparkly she really likes that as well. Some children with seizures will react to flashing lights. I was really worried at first using them with her so often. I talked to her neurologist and he said that not all kids sieze with the flashing lights and just to base what I do on her. If she likes lights and it doesnt bother her then go for it. Most other toys she couldnt care less about. But as soon as she sees those flashing lights her world is a happy place.

You might just try finding the toy that your baby really likes it make take a while to figure out what that is (for us it was almost 2 years) just keep trying.

Good luck!!

Let me reword, what kind of toys to buy a 6 month old baby?

I just want to know what kind of toys, what toys you would buy a 6 month old baby? People are saying they wont know the difference for Christmas, and I understand that, but since I dont have a lot of money, this is the one time of year I will be able to buy my daughter some toys, so what kind should I get?

Jeanne answers:

My daughter will be 5 1/2 month by christmas, so almost 6 months. I plan to buy her for toys:
—Baby Einstein “Push and pull toys” I can attach to her play mat—-they have a lot of these at Target or walmart for affordable prices
—-A couple of “Pat The bunny” type children’s books—probably I’ll get them at Barnes and Noble in the children’s section. My daughter loves it when I read to her.
—some toys that squeak like rubber duckies etc.
—I’m considering getting a new mobile thing for her crib that hangs, this one I saw at Target plays music and is very decorative looking.
—-a touch toy—something that when you touch it, it lights up and makes sounds, I’m not sure which one yet, but I’m thinking of the phone one for her.

I already have one of these, but you could also buy her a colorful “stacker” those pyramid-shaped things with colorful rings on them (I think thats what theyre called)—at walgreen’s they have one that lights up when you touch them and plays music. It says 6 mons plus on it.

My dad already said he’s going to get me an exersaucer for her. Also another tip. Maybe this sounds tacky, but when ppl ask me what I want for christmas, I say something for my daughter instead lol. Like my mom asked what I wanted and I said an umbrella stroller lol.

Rainforest Jumperoo is an excellent toy for a 6 month old. They not ony have a wonderful time, but also it is the one place you can leave them for a minute to use the bathroom and know that they are safe. Why? Because they can not get out without your help.

What sort of toys are good for a 6 month old baby?

I am looking for Christmas presents for my daughter, Boots has 3 for 2 on toys but I was wondering if anyone could recommend toys they have bought for their children which have been well used, she will be 7 months at Christmas, there is so much choice, I am confused!

Stacking cups were one of the best toys my son had between about 6 to 12 months. They are such a simple and inexpensive toy but babies love them. They love to hold them and put them in their mouths at first but after a while they’re putting them inside each other, knocking down towers, building towers, banging them together. They are great bath toys too.

Other ideas – easy to grab balls. You can put them just out of reach and try to get them to move towards them as they start crawling.

Also toys which make noise, such as animal sounds, alphabet, nursery rhymes, numbers – great for introducing them to different sounds and starting to encourage speech. Baby pianos etc.

Check out the article below for more ideas.

So you just found out your best friend is having triplets and you’re ready to start shopping. Your first inclination might be to start buying 3 of everything – 3 matching t-shirts, 3 matching rattles, 3 matching receiving blankets. But keep in mind that having 3 babies isn’t just 3 times as much fun – it’s also 3 times as much confusion – and work! Here are the best baby gifts for multiples that will really be appreciated.

Diapers – Of course the number one gift on the list is diapers. The average newborn uses 12 diapers per day. Multiply that by 3 and then multiply it again by 30 and you’re looking at almost 1100 diapers just in the first month. Over the course of just one year the expense will be more than $3000. New parents – especially of multiples – always appreciate the gift of diapers.

Time - The second best baby gift you can give any new mother is the gift of Time. And with multiples it’s even more appreciated. Organize a weekly housecleaning brigade, volunteer to run errands or do the grocery shopping, cook meals that are easy to re-heat. Don’t just offer “Let me know if I can be of any help.” Most people won’t take you up on it. Be specific – “I will be here every Monday for the first 6 months to sit with the babies for one hour so you can get a bubble bath and relax.” or “I will be here every Saturday afternoon for 2 hours so you can go out and get your hair done or relax at the coffee shop.”

Baby clothes – Multiple babies are going to go through multiple clothing items – bibs, t-shirts, nightgowns, socks, booties, etc. If you buy matching items, get them in different colors. And make sure to pass the word for baby showers to let everyone know what the colors are. For example, if the mother is having triplets, have everyone buy red, yellow and green or pink, blue and yellow. That way you’ll always be able to tell which baby is which until they develop their own personalities.

Baby care items – Even though the mother may be planning to breastfeed she’s still going to need bottles – and plenty of them. Medicine dispensers, thermometers, baby shampoo, burping towels, baby powders and ointments – all of the items you’d generally buy for new babies will be in even greater demand when multiples are involved. While a baby thermometer may only be needed for one baby at a time, chances are it will be used more frequently and the chance of breaking it or losing it will be greater. So multiple gifts for multiple babies will always be appreciated.

Baby safety – Don’t forget things like outlet covers and drawer locks. With more than one baby crawling around the curiosity and mischief will multiply, too, so it’s even more important to make sure the house is baby-proofed.
